Holy Cross Mission is solidly rooted in the loving ministry of Jesus Christ as Consul and healer. Holy Cross Mission is committed to the spiritual wellness of all Christians who have a deep concern for their life’s mission in our earthly existence. Persons will be given special attention to those who are poor in spirit and vulnerable about their ability to accept Jesus Christ as their savior. . Our Christian mission is dedicated to spiritually-centered, holistic care, which sustains and improves the health of individuals and communities. We are advocates for a compassionate and just society that uses the Bible as bedrock of our teaching and counseling, which is seen through our actions and our words.

Charles Davidson’s “Bone Dead, and Rising: Vincent van Gogh and the Self Before God” was released in March 2011 by Cascade Books (Wipf and Stock Publishers), with clergy, pastoral counselors and caregivers being among the intended audiences. The book is a case study in the psychology of religion, examining Vincent van Gogh’s life and art from both theological and psychological perspectives, including Self Psychology, transpersonal psychology, and family systems. The foreword is written by Lallene Rector. The book was endorsed by Frederick Buechner and has recently been reviewed by Kirkus Reviews and The Christian Century. It has been nominated by the publisher for Christianity Today’s award in biography and history. It may be purchased at 20% discount through Wipf and Stock or from Amazon as well as from local bookshops. Charles Davidson is currently professor of pastoral theology and history at Virginia University of Lynchburg, in Lynchburg, Virginia.
